When you purchase a data packet, you own it as a buyer. At the end of the bid cycle our system assimilates all of that data from each individual person and packages it very nicely for you in XML or CSV file. Data direct uploads are packaged in their original format (PDF, JPEG, MP4, DOC, etc.).

TARTLE is a self service marketplace platform. Our technology is designed to decrease regulatory risks of data acquisition and management due to the nature of the transaction coming from a data producer. TARTLE is free to join for everyone, no subscription, and is structured with a pay as you go model.

Sellers cannot delete data after the data packet is sold. The data packet that is sold is now owned by the buyer. There is record of exchange and consent that the data sold is now the buyer's property.

Data can be de-identified or identified depending on the packet selected for a bid.

  • The marketing effort required to build a specific subset of people within the United States takes 7-15 days to convert them to a TARTLE user. 7 days for conversion, 7 days for retargeting. The cost of acquisition for a U.S. citizen is $3.50 USD.
  • Marketing attribution and our marketing algorithm need this time for understanding the touchpoints of that user to lead them to conversion. Closer to 30 days this becomes more efficient and effective for dialing in the ROI for the specific spend on user acquisition.
  • Once the user has converted to the platform, the bid cycle is 24 hours. So after the notification and push for the demographic of the user to fill out that data packet, they have the ability to sell that data packet to fill the bid volume. Filling is on a first come first serve basis. When the bid maximum of respondent sellers is complete - the bid finalizes and transactions completes. If the population of sellers does not hit bid maximum, then the 24 hour bid cycle will continue until time ends and the bid closes. Afterwhich the system assimilates the data from the sellers and makes it available for download on the buyer terminal.

  • As a general rule of thumb data packets (the item that is traded on the marketplace) carry a higher cost to the buyer when they include sensitive information that is identifiable to the user for data that is otherwise completely unavailable and confidential.
  • For example: Healthcare data that is de-identified for a medical record typically moves around the range of $200 USD, when that record is published to the marketplace with PII, the cost raises to a maximum of 10x that value ($2000 USD). Of course that is also dependent on the demographics of the purchase and other identifiers of value to pharma and medical research.
  • Data that houses information from say a facebook profile can range anywhere from $0.40 USD to $1.00 USD. This is because of the ease of integration with the marketplace and general availability of the data that is already online.
    • Please keep in mind that transactions that are bid for less than $1.00 USD are required to be placed with cryptocurrency (bitcoin) as its fractional payment works best in micro-payment scenarios. Above that threshold fiat or crypto can be used depending on the buyer's choice.
  • Combined data sets that carry granularity and volume transact x > $5 USD. Again dependent on data topic, labor intensiveness of packet completion, and identifiable markers.
  • A solid practice is to bid higher for data that personally identifies, to better incentivize a seller to sell. Market mechanics and economics have interesting outcomes considering an intangible asset is being traded that can be copied. Lastly, if you choose to do a multi-purchase study, you can come in lower with a bid as the annuity stream over time for a seller means they are willing to take a discount on the recurring purchase.
